White Nationalist “News Site” Among White House Press Pool Today
The people that get to cover the White House has gotten a lot more putrid under the 2nd term of Trump.
It was a pretty big story in 2017 when Alex Jones’ conspiracy site, InfoWars got White House press credentials. InfoWars’ correspondent was Jerome Corsi a conspiracy theorist that never met a lie he didn’t want to spin into a book deal. Roger Stone associate Corsi has been involved in so many scandals and at the forefront of so many bullshit conspiracies I’d end up spending this whole article writing about him just to explain how insane it is that he got access to the White House Press Room.
InfoWars only got a day pass. Those are pretty easy to get if you know someone in the White House press team, or if your news org has a really good tie in to whatever the White House wants to talk about that day. Say, you’re a entertainment news site and the White House has invited Bono to talk about world aid programs… there’s a good chance you’ll get a pass for the day. That said, up until the second term of the Trump administration passes were handed out by the White House Correspondents Association. You know, media elite that put on the dinner.
The goal as a new media organization was to get a hard pass. That meant that, unless you really fucked up as a journalist or as an outlet you were always going to get in the room when the president spoke. The next step up from there, that was reserved for the experienced press, think AP, Reuters, NBC, was being part of the “pool.” I’m simplifying things here a bit as when you’re in the scrum and elbowing for the right angle… none of this matters. But, when the news event is truly exclusive, like a meeting with Putin or a truly important speech THE POOL will be the only people that get access to the room.
As someone who never got to be in the pool, I get it. I may not be happy about it, but I get it. There’s only physically so much space in the Oval office you have to give it to AP, Reuters, NYT etc. The news folks that get the story out quickly and out to the most number of people.
All that was true until 2025 when the Trump White House opened up the pool to a whole bunch of “news” organizations and cut the White House Correspondents Association out of the decision making. I say this as someone who has open disdain for the WHCA, this was a truly bad idea.
Additionally the White House added “New Media” to the pool. While that included some newer online news orgs like Politico-vet founded NOTUS and Ben Smith’s Semafor that wasn’t true for the vast majority of the incoming freshman class. In May 2025 Poynter took a look at the New Media news orgs and found that more than 59% were Conservative, with another 9.4% being “religious.” In fact all of the “religious” “news” outlets are extremely conservative.
That incoming class also included the conspiracy website ZeroHedge where one of their lead writers was written under the pseudonym Tyler Durden.

In 2026 the press pool has only gotten worse. A random selection from the last couple weeks includes Christian Broadcast Network, National Review, Daily Wire, and Real America’s Voice. None of these organizations should be considered pool news as they are opinion site.

Now for the first time that I have found, the white nationalist connected site Border Hawk News is part of the White House pool.

Border Hawk News’s own mission statement declares that the Great Replacement theory is “real.” The great replacement theory for those who might not know is the ideology of the mass murderer who murdered 10 people in a supermarket in Buffalo, NY. Quoting the Southern Poverty Law Center: The “great replacement” theory is inherently white supremacist. It depends on stoking fears that a non-white population, which the theory’s proponents characterize as “inferior,” will displace a white majority. It is also antisemitic. Some proponents of the “great replacement” do not explicitly attribute the plot to Jews. Instead, they blame powerful Jewish individuals such as financier and philanthropist George Soros or use coded antisemitic language to identify shadowy “elites” or “globalists.”

Border Hawk shares staff with VDARE, a wildly anti-immigrant and racist organization that published Jason Kessler, the organizer of the deadly white supremacist Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville in 2017.
The politics of the site is not in any question. According to the SPLC: Border Hawk News is a news and article aggregator platform with connections to the organized anti-immigrant network founded by the late John Tanton, a white nationalist and eugenicist who is credited as being the architect of the modern-day anti-immigrant movement. Border Hawk’s president and editor in chief Dan Lyman has called the “end of birthright citizenship “a no-brainer” and warned of “the destruction of white America” by immigration” in an interview with white nationalist Peter Brimelow of VDARE.
Border Hawk, claims to be a proper news site but it doesn’t have individual authors for the pieces that they publish. There is no staff, or contributors cited anywhere on the site. Most of the pieces published on the site have no authors, no links to sources and are about 350-400 words with Homeland Security sourced images. They seem to be just republished law enforcement reports.

Like the NY Post, Breitbart and other right wing “news” sources they use phrases like “invaders,” and “illegals.” Nations and cities are “flooded” with “illegals.” The only pieces with authors attached to them are opinion articles claiming to be “reports.”

The White House Correspondents Association was and still is a gatekeeper, but handing their control of the White House Press room to the Trump White House was far more dangerous. The "Pool” that gets to be in the room for important speeches, conversations and press conferences are unfortunately vital. They’re the people that get to record and read the room. They are the people that write the first draft of history. When historians look for documentation of what happened when the President made a proclamation, the pool are often the only source.
