You Do Not In Fact "gotta hand it to Marjorie Taylor Greene"

It seems like we do this every couple of months now. Some right wing shithead says a thing against Trump, or something vaguely reasonable and suddenly POOF the right wing shithead is “part of the resistance!” We saw this when white nationalist and organizer of the deadly Unite the Right Rally in 2017, Richard Spencer, said that he regretted supporting Trump in 2016. Joy Beher celebrated this change on The View, the audience cheered. Just last year the entire Democratic Party fell to their knees and celebrated when war criminal and collector of human hearts Dick Cheney endorsed Kamala Harris.

The greatest and my personal “favorite” example of this is when sweater wearing chalk board conspiracist Glenn Beck said that he was done with the hate filled rhetoric and went on an apology tour. Samantha Bee and many other media outlets fell for it. Just like Marjorie Taylor Greene on CNN he admitted that he had “done damage.” Just last week Beck had blue tongued Alex Jones (who believes that the physical devil walks amongst us) on to talk 9/11 conspiracies.

They don’t redeem. They never do. Even the well funded folks at the Lincoln Project who don’t seem to be able to accomplish anything with millions of dollars and neo-cons at the The Bulwark are just looking for the next grift. They are on the bad side of Herr Trump so they need to try to influence the Democratic Party so it doesn’t go too far to the left.

Enthusiast Anti-Semite tweets and Crossfit weirdness Marjorie Taylor Greene who got herself a seat in Congress based solely on being horrible to people like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a school shooting survivor. She was, and all evidence points to her still being an anti-semitic conspiracy theorist, who follows the QAnon belief that members of the Democratic Party like Hillary Clinton are part of a Satanic Cabal.

Sunday morning Dana Bash interviewed MTG about the a Truth Social post where President Trump lambasted the Georgia Congresswoman calling her a “RINO” and withdrawing his endorsement. This is of course over her support of releasing the Jeffrey Epstein Files.

Greene is one of the few OG MAGA supporters that are still taking a stand on releasing the New York financiers documents. Republicans have been doing everything in their power to stop the release, from refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) into office to shutting down the government.

MTG who seems to be genuinely concerned about releasing the Epstein files, but not worried about losing her Congressional seat after Trump’s condemnation - she won her district she won by nearly 30% in 2024. She should have even less worry now that Trump (as I was writing this) has screamed on Truth Social for Congress to release the files and focus on “Affordability” (where we are winning BIG!).”

MTG called Trump’s remarks “hurtful” and worried that they might target her for physical attacks, saying “those are the types of words, use that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger.” The irony of this was thankfully not lost on Dana Bash who, quickly commented that “I haven’t heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.”

The Congresswoman who for the last decade has been documented spreading anti-semitic conspiracy theories, making racist statements and harassing colleagues to the point that she was removed from her committees responded with by saying:

Dana, I think that’s fair criticism. And I would like to say humbly, I’m sorry for taking part. And the toxic, politics. It’s it’s very bad for our country.

She went on to say that she was “committed… to put down the knives in politics,” claiming that she’s been working on that for a while. Checking her twitter feed she is still spreading anti-vax and 2020 election denial bullshit but last least in the last couple of weeks no racist, bigoted rhetoric like in the past. Maybe she has changed! Let’s play more of the interview!

Ah shit. Well that didn’t last now did it. Defending the white supremacist anti-semite Nick Fuentes and white nationalist Tucker Carlson for having Fuentes on earlier this month doesn’t really help the case does it? Recommending that CNN have Fuentes on to discuss his views also really doesn’t belie the whole ‘I’m no longer a hateful troll’ thing you’ve spent the first 10mins of the interview claiming. The little slip up of saying “I have never criticized the Jewish people or said anything about them in particular but I am critical of their-the government of Israel.”

Greene like all the others I mentioned before can’t help who they are. They got all their power and money by being bigots, trolls, racists, war criminals - they aren’t likely to change.

Should we give them a chance? Yes. Every time. This coming week I’ll be posting an interview I did with Scott Kelley Ernest. Scott is a former right wing extremist who gave it all up and has spent years working to help others to get out of that life and way of thought. They do great work. But they are doing the WORK. If people like MTG or Richard Spencer or even the regular MAGA chud wants to reconnect with the non-terrible part of the population they need to do the work first. It’s on THEM.

If people like Schatz wants to bring people that voted for Trump into the fold, after Trump’s first four years of supporting Unite the Right racists, January 6th and the pardons and the truly monstrous attacks on Trans people, immigrants and so many more people… he can do that. But wanting to dunk on racists who voted for everything happening right now is not being bad at politics, it’s being human.

If these supposed MAGA fence sitters want to join the rest of us, then all they need to do is leave. If you feel you President who you have supported through 34 felonies, an insurrection, a pandemic, being found criminally liable for sexual assault has betrayed you - look inside yourself. You betrayed yourself.
